About Yucatan Ministry
Who We Are
We are Lorena and José Montejo. From our youth, in different places and circumstances, the Lord reached our hearts. Lorena grew up in a Christian home, where from an early age she served as a children's teacher and as a leader in the evangelization of family groups. José came to Christ at the age of 20 and later began his biblical studies in North Carolina, USA, where he received his ministerial ordination in 2002 and served actively in evangelism and discipleship within his congregation.
From the day we united our lives in marriage, we understood that God had brought us together with the purpose of serving Him. We have two beautiful children, Jocelyn and Caleb, so in 2015 we traveled to the Dominican Republic. There we had the blessing of sharing the gospel, supporting families, making disciples, and planting two churches. It was a transformative experience that deeply shaped our faith and our vision of the Kingdom of God.
In February 2021, the Lord led us to continue His work in the state of Yucatán, Mexico. Since then, we have worked with Maya communities that for decades have lived in the abandonment of their ancestral beliefs. We have strengthened our missionary work by evangelizing, providing biblical counseling, spiritual support, and leadership training in various churches. We evangelize families by listening to their struggles, walking alongside with them, praying with them, and guiding them through the Word of God.
Our greatest desire is that people come to know the love of Jesus and His plan of life and salvation.
